It’s October, and you know what that means…
IT’S SPOOKY SEASON!!!
That’s right, spooky season is upon us and that means there’s a ton of really great geeky stuff headed your way. There is a new Joker movie, as well as a new installment in the Dragon Age franchise, and a new book by Susanna Clarke.

October 1st:
Treasure Trackers

Three misfit middle schoolers follow the clues from an old diary to locate the treasure hidden somewhere in their town. But what starts as harmless fun quickly turns into something else as the teens have to avoid greedy adults, high school bullies, and the deadly curse of the treasure itself in this Halloween treasure hunt.
October 3rd:
Gremlins: The Wild Batch, season 2
Max
Join Sam, Gizmo, and Elle as they journey from their old home in Shanghai into San Francisco and the American West in this spin-off series based on the original 1984 Gremlins. Featuring all-new characters voiced by Ming-na Wen, BD Wong, and Simu Liu as the charming bootlegger Chang, who is set to help the trio escape Alcatraz and its undead guards.
The Legend of Vox Machina, season 3
Prime Video
All of Exandria is in danger as the Chroma Conclave, a group of dragons bent on world domination and destruction, spread across the earth. And the only thing standing in their way is a lovable team of misfit adventurers. Based on the hit series by Critical Role, this season promises to give us fans the last performances of the late Lance Reddick as the evil Thordak.
October 4th:
Joker: Folie à Deux
In Theaters
Arthur Fleck is back for more mayhem in this sequel to the 2019 Joker. Awaiting trial, Arthur has been placed in Arkham Asylam where he meets fellow inmate Lee Quinzel. The two begin to experience their insanity as a musical, all while Fleck’s followers form a movement to liberate him. Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.

Old friends all gather together for a pre-wedding party full of games, but one of them arrives with a mysterious briefcase containing some type of machine that everyone hooks themselves up to. Now, everyone finds themselves in different bodies and revealing long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges in this existential thriller.

When a mysterious force abducts their friend and leaves him with a vacant “the lights are on but no one’s home” kind of look, three teenagers will team up with a retired detective to uncover the mystery and go on a monstrous adventure to protect their home. Starring Mason Thames, Mel Gibson, David Henrie, Abby James Witherspoon, Julian Lerner, and Patrick Renna (you may remember him from The Sandlot).
Operation Blood Hunt

A group of Special Forces soldiers are sent to a remote Pacific Island in 1944, looking for missing marines. When they get to a Japanese base, they discover a cache of the emperor’s gold and a deadly secret weapon: werewolves. V/H/S Beyond

The seventh installment, and ninth overall, of the V/H/S series franchise. This sci-fi horror anthology film features six new found footage tapes including one about animal rights activists breaking into a taxidermists’ house, another about a skydiving group that collides midair with a UFO, and another about when the paparazzi find so much more than they bargained for.
Frankie Freako

In this homage to 80’s B movies, uptight Conor Sweeny makes a late night phone call to a party hotline hosted by “Frankie Freako,” inviting in maniacal goblin and his friends. But when Conor tries to get rid of Frankie, he unwittingly sets himself on a collision course with other pint-sized monsters.
Things Will Be Different

Hiding away from the police after a robbery, estranged siblings Joseph and Sidney hide out in a farmhouse that allows them to hide away in a different time. Things go perfectly until it’s time to leave, when a voice from a recording tells them, “You shouldn’t be here.” Starring Adam David Thompson and Riley Dandy.
October 7th:
Superman & Lois, season 4
CW
The fourth and final season of this show following Clark Kent and Lois Lane in a post-infinite crisis Earth where the two are parents to two boys, Jonathan and Jordan, both of whom also have superpowers. Season four picks up with Superman’s fight against Doomsday, a fight that ends with the supposed death of Kal-El and the rise of a new villain and otherworldly creature for Jonathan and Jordan to face.
October 10th:
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft
Netflix
Set in the Survivor timeline and taking place after the events of the 2018 game “Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” this series follows Lara Croft as a solo adventurer. But when a man named Devereaux breaks into Croft Manor and steals a powerful Chinese artifact with ties to her past, it will be up to Lara and her friends to get it back. Starring Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, and Earl Baylon.
October 11th:
Uprising
Netflix
During the Joseon dynasty of Korea, two friends grow up together learning how to fight and survive. One of them is a nobleman, while the other is his servant. Now the two must face each other on opposing sides during the Japanese invasion of Korea during the 16th century. Starring Gang Dong-won and Cha Seung-won.
October 17th:
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, season 2
Netflix
Having snuck aboard a cargo ship delivering kidnapped dinosaurs, the surviving members of the Nublar Six, the six kids who were left on Isla Nublar after the destruction of Jurassic World, find themselves back on a new island populated by dinosaurs. But all is not what it seems, especially when they discover that a dear friend who they thought had died is still alive.
October 18th:
Panda Plan

An international crime syndicate sets their sights on abducting a baby panda named Hu Hu just as the panda was adopted by action movie star, Jackie Chan. Trapped in the zoo with armed gunmen, and a very cute panda, Jackie must enlist the help of his agent and Hu Hu’s dedicated caretaker in order to beat the bad guys. Venom: The Last Dance
In Theaters
With two worlds on the hunt for them, Eddie Brock and the symbiote Venom are forced to go on the run. The US military hunts for Eddie and Venom to better understand the symbiotes and figure out what exactly led them to earth, all while a powerful force from another world, the dark creator of the symbiotes, Knull, also hunts for them. Starring Tom Hardy.

Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream

Team up with 20 other players to raid and defeat powerful enemies in this distorted version of the Sword Art Online world. Plus, Kirito must work with friends and foes past and present to set the world to rights.

The classic slasher horror survival game has been rebuilt and remastered for PC and PS5. The comparison shots between the original and this new version are truly impressive. So, return to Blackwood Mountain, what’s the worst that could happen?
October 8th:
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred

This DLC includes a new region, new character class, the ability to recruit allies, and new co-op options. You also get new pets! Small tangent: I still remember playing the original Diablo in the late 1990’s. Does that make me old?
October 11th:
Metaphor: ReFantazio

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

As one might expect, this is a single-player horror adventure game inspired by blockbuster films. Survive in silence using your ingenuity as you control a young survivor doing her best in an eerily tranquil world that is falling apart.
October 18th:
Unknown 9: Awakening

You play as Haroona, a young woman with the ability to dive into and channel power from a mysterious parallel dimension known as the Fold. Journey across the world and learn to wield your powers while avoiding splinter factions that want to use you for their own ends.
October 22nd:
Fear the Spotlight
PC, PS4, PS5
Blumhouse Games brings us this atmospheric third-person horror game. Join Vivian and Amy as they sneak into school after hours and try to hold a seance. When that seance goes wrong and Amy disappears, Vivian is forced into a nightmarish alternate reality where the school halls are haunted by a monster with a spotlight for a head. Creepy!
October 25th:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
The latest installment in the mega popular Black Ops series of Call of Duty complete with a cinematic campaign and the epic return of round-based zombies. And, of course, its got best-in-class multiplayer with 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps.
October 31st:
Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Like its predecessor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, this is an immersive single-player RPG with crazy smooth graphics and complicated skill trees for multiple characters. Along with your seven companions, you will become the Veilguard and defy the gods themselves.
