What’s Geeky in August 2023?

Pencils, calculators, and backpacks are now on sale, which means that August is upon us! But while the summer is winding down—the geeky stuff is heating back up.

Seriously, we have a ton of stuff going on this month, so buckle up. We have a live-action season 5 of Star Wars: Rebels, a videogame where dinosaurs contemplate the end of the world, and a new Drizzt book from R.A. Salvatore.

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

But first, a word…

Before we “dive right in,” I wanted to take a moment to talk a little about the ongoing SAGAFTRA/WGA strike.

We here at My Geekology do not fall under the umbrella of the Writers’ and Actors’ strike, so as such we are continuing to work. But, and I cannot stress this enough, we fully support the strike and hope that all of you (I naturally assume that everyone reads this article) stay safe out there on the picket line.

If you would like to help the strike—and I’m sure you would since you enjoy the content that they create—be sure to check out the three recommended actions that the actors and writers are asking us to do to help out.

First, spread the message on social media and let everyone know that you stand behind the strikers. Second, don’t do the work of an actor or writer. And finally, consider donating to EntertainmentCommunityFund.org to help these artists continue to survive as they fight for better pay and working conditions.
