Break out the pool noodles cause summer is here! Woohoo!
But in between barbecues, pool parties, and sweltering in the hot sun, there is a ton of new geeky stuff coming our way. From a new Star Wars show set in the High Republic to a video game set in the Spy x Family world, and not one but two new books by famed Space Opera master Adrian Tchaikovsky there’s a ton of stuff coming your way.

Movies/TV:
Time to get excited, geeks! There is a new, and highly anticipated, Star Wars show set long before the prequels (and starring a familiar face from Squid Game, Lee Jung-Jae), as well as a new season of The Boys, and new spin-offs for Orphan Black and A Quiet Place franchises, as well as a return of FX’s The Bear. Get ready to say, “Yes, chef.”

June 4th:
The Acolyte, season 1
Disney+
Set about 100 years before the events of Episode I, someone in a galaxy far, far away is murdering Jedi. When Jedi Master Sol goes to investigate, he discovers that the culprit is his old padawan Mae, who had left the Jedi Order. But all is not as it seems, and Mae has her reasons for hunting down Jedi even as she is manipulated by sinister forces from the shadows.
June 6th:
Criminal Minds: Evolution, season 2
Paramount+
After tracking down and apprehending the serial killer Elias Voit, the BAU now has to reckon with Voit in federal protective custody. If that weren’t enough, sparks start flying when the ex-wife of a former agent, Dr. Jill Gideon, arrives with a murderous conspiracy and a complicated history with agent Rossi.
June 13th:
The Boys, season 4
Prime
Billy Butcher has been kicked out of the Boys just in time for Victoria Neuman to get closer than ever to the Oval Office, under the thumb of Homelander who has also just absconded with Becca’s son. But Butcher and the Boys aren’t done quite yet as they have discovered a virus that can kill Supes. Expect more blood, gore, and psychotic sheep than ever before.

The Watchers
In Theaters
From Ishana Night Shyamalan comes the supernatural horror of a young artist who becomes trapped in a shelter in the untouched wilderness of western Ireland along with three strangers. Inside the shelter is a large mirrored window, through which unknown creatures watch them for their own entertainment. All the while they are trapped with a bird who keeps saying “Try not to die.”
Inside Out 2
In Theaters
Joy, Sadness and all the other emotions are back inside 13-year-old Riley’s head as big changes are taking place. Riley is going through puberty, and there are a bunch of new emotions, like Anxiety and Ennui, popping up. But after a disagreement and a literal bottling up, the old emotions will have to travel through Riley’s subconscious in order to keep the new emotions from changing Riley for good.

This historical drama follows the story of Katherine Parr, the sixth wife of Henry VIII of England. Two of her predecessors were divorced, while two others were beheaded. When she is named Regent by the king, the jealous courtiers begin to conspire against her and whisper rumors into the paranoid king’s ear: that Katherine is under the spell of radical protestants and is now plotting his death. If she is to survive, Katherine will have to engage in her own schemes.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person

Sasha is a 68-year-old teenage vampire whose parents have cut her off from their blood supply after she told them that she doesn’t want to kill. With her life in danger, she seeks out Paul, a lonely teenager with suicidal tendencies who is more than happy to save her life by giving his. What starts as a friendly agreement then spirals into a bizarre quest to fulfill Paul’s last wishes.

Orphan Black: Echoes, season 1

Taking place thirty-seven years after the original Orphan Black, a young woman named Lucy tries to escape a past that she cannot remember. Evading dangerous enemies, she runs into a teenager and an older neuroscientist who look very familiar. They all have the same scar on their wrist and the same shadowy organization chasing them.
June 27th:
The Bear, season 3
FX and Hulu
We don’t usually include shows like The Bear here on My Geekology, but it’s just so good. This season, Carmy and the team are opening up their own high-end restaurant in downtown Chicago, complete with a list of “Non-negotiables,” to the utter sarcastic delight of the team. All the while Carmy deals with the stress of the job as he, and the rest of the team, try to put their lives back on track.
June 28th:
A Quiet Place: Day One

What starts out as a normal day in Manhattan quickly turns into the apocalypse as meteors fall to the earth filled with armored aliens with hyper-sensitive hearing. As the aliens hunt anything that makes a noise, the few survivors of New York City try to make their way to safety. All while remaining completely silent.

When a monstrous alien called Besteel attacks her home, Eva Nine escapes with her robot mother into the surface world above her in a strange planet called Orbona. Here she is the only human in a world filled with strange aliens. But Eva knows that there must be others like her and she is joined by the cantankerous alien Rovender and the massive tartigrade Otto in the search for other humans in this adaptation of the beloved children’s book.
Video Games:
While we have a bunch of rereleases this month, keep your eyes open for the upcoming game based off of a cult horror classic, as well as two new DLCs for some of the greatest games of the past few years, and a new game featuring our favorite anime telepath.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

A DLC for one of the coolest scifi MMORPG’s of the last five years? Don’t mind if I do! Most exciting is the new ability to combine Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand into a custom subclass. End the War of Light and Darkness by journeying to the heart of the Traveler.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game

Based on the cult classic horror film from the 1980s, this game allows you to play as either the Killer Klowns themselves or as the innocent human citizens of Crescent Cove. This asymmetrical multiplayer horror is not for the faint of heart, but it is perfect for that little campy horror lover in us all.
Star Wars: Hunters
Switch, iOS, Android
4v4 third-person combat has arrived in a galaxy far, far away. In this gladiatorial arena you can fight as many different Star Wars characters and creatures from Jawas to droids to Zabraks. There are different modes of fighting and an endless array of customizations to collect. Play on mobile or Nintendo Switch and take the galaxy with you wherever you go.
June 6th:
Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Originally envisioned as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, this newest installment is smaller in scale than its predecessors but more focused on the assassin part of Assassin’s Creed. As in Valhalla, you play as Basim Ibn Ishaq, a street thief turned assassin fighting for liberty on the streets and rooftops of Baghdad. Of course, this is only the iOS release so, if you’d prefer to play on a console, just check out Mirage on PlayStation, XBox, and PC.

Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked

This collection of three classic games sees you as the opossum knight, Sparkster. Relive all the nostalgic side-scrolling adventures as you battle an army of robots and pigs in order to save the beautiful princess. Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

This dungeon crawler action RPG is animated like your favorite Cartoon Network shows of the 1990s and 2000s. You play as Becky, a teenage vampire hunter who protects her hometown with her burgeoning magic powers and her field hockey stick. Enjoy this 2D animated, hand-drawn world of teenage angst and bluddy vampirism.
Still Wakes the Deep
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
A first-person horror survival game that sees you playing a North Sea offshore oil rig worker who has a couple of massive problems: the rig has lost all power and there’s something dark onboard. Add in a vicious storm and you’ve got the setting for this heart-pounding horror. With nothing but your wits and a dose of good luck, you may yet survive the day.
June 21st:
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

The second DLC on our list this month is for the wildly popular dark fantasy action RPG, Elden Ring. This expansion offers a brand new story set in the Land of Shadow. Mysteries and new characters abound, as well as unforeseen enemies, weapons, and equipment.

Normally, I wouldn’t consider a racing game a good pick for this column, but this is a revamp of an Atari classic. This single-screen arcade racer is back with eight player spots and a robust track builder. It’s been a while since an Atari classic has been available in the 21st century, so enjoy!

Spy x Anya: Operation Memories

A little slice-of-life adventure for one family full of secrets! The family of the anime Spy x Family is alive in this game where Anya has been tasked with creating a photo diary of her life for school.
